I launched a Patreon page for the release of A Wounded Heart and used it to release the book to subscribers, chapter by chapter, ahead of the eBook release. But after that initial release, I struggled to provide enough content to make it worth the subscription fee, so earlier this year, I refunded all the subs that Patreon would allow me to and closed the site down.
With A Healing Love now sitting at over eighty-thousand words and looking to be about two-thirds done, I’m starting to think about a release. It’s a way off, but I still need to think about it.
I have to be honest here, I wasn’t all that taken with Patreon as a platform, so I’m not all that keen on going back there. Instead, I’m going to try a platform called Ream Stories. It’s a similar idea to Patreon in that you can set various tiers of subscription, but it’s aimed squarely at authors. Each book can be given a cover, for example.
My plan is to upload all the existing WU novels and short stories to Ream and leave them there permanently, and then to use the platform to provide “Early Access” to new chapters, and blog posts, including all the chapters to date of A Healing Love in their “pre-edit” state.
It might take a while to get all the existing work uploaded, but once that’s done I’ll make a start on the “Works in Progress”.
