I’ve now completed chapter 22 of A Tortured Soul, which brings the manuscript’s word count up to ninety-six thousand and mores the story’s time line along by a couple of months to a point at which it seems most appropriate for the climatic resolution of the books major plot point.
Is that giving too much away? Nah, it gives nothing away, but it does tell you that I’m getting towards the end of the first draft of this book and that’s not a bad thing at all.
Of course, I’m still faced with how to round of the ending of the book in such a way as to easily transition into the third and final book in the series, and I have to write the future-time prologue and epilogue. And it goes without saying that a first draft is just that – a draft. It’ll have to be edited and I’ll probably make a whole ton of changes to the narrative, dialogue and even the plot’s structure.
But the main point it that I’m well on the way to being able to start that editing process. And that is a good thing.
